Festival of Ice & Fire

A free family-friendly event in Barnoldswick town centre. With this year’s theme “The Hobbit”, you will be transported to Middle Earth with live ice carving, ice sculpture trail, interactive ice wall, fire show, activity trail and free rides.

A packed programme of activities at multiple venues around the town centre, including a winter market and the event finale – the ‘Battle of the Five Armies Fire Show’ followed by a Sound and Light Show:

 

All day on the Town Square, 10am to 6pm:

  • ice sculpture trail (around the town centre)
  • interactive carving wall
  • lonely mountain activity trail
  • winter market
  • live beer brewing demonstration

 

Timed activities on the Town Square:

  • live ice carving and a children’s creative activity: Smaug masks and dwarf swords (between 12 noon and 4.30pm)
  • circus show (1pm until 1.40pm)
  • the Battle of the Five Armies fire show finale (4.30pm until 5pm)
  • sound and light show (5pm until 6pm)

 

In the Rainhall Centre, 10am to 5pm:

  • immersive photo experience, exhibits and demonstrations with local photographers
  • traditional sounds musical duo

 

In the Civic Hall, 2pm to 4pm:

  • circus workshop: juggling, stilts, diablos, hula hoops

 

In the library, 10.30am to 12.30pm:

  • scavenger hunt and rune bookmark making
